1. What is njdates?

njdates brings people together through modern speed dating, Singles Socials, Singles Night Out, Speed Friending, and Friends Socials across New Jersey.

We create welcoming spaces where meeting new people feels easier, whether you're looking for a romantic connection, new friendships, or a fun night out.

 

2. What types of events does njdates offer?

We offer five ways to meet, depending on your vibe.

Modern Speed Dating: Meet 9–12 compatible singles through guided, one-on-one mini-dates.

 

Singles Socials: Start with group speed dating and icebreakers, then enjoy activities like pickleball, golf simulators, games, or live entertainment.

 

Singles Night Out: Casual, activity-focused experiences where singles can meet naturally while enjoying a shared experience.

 

Speed Friending: Guided conversations designed to introduce you to potential new friends based on shared interests and personalities.

 

Friends Socials: Group introductions, games, activities, and social time focused on building friendships.

 

3. Where are njdates events held?

We host events at breweries, restaurants, coffee shops, lounges, entertainment venues, and other local spots throughout North, Central and South Jersey plus the Jersey Shore.

Each event listing includes the location, date, age range, format, and what's included.

 

4. Who attends njdates events?

People from different backgrounds, professions, and stages of life who want to meet others face to face.

Our dating events are organized by age range and dating preferences, including LGBTQ+ events. Friendship events welcome people who want to expand their social circles, regardless of relationship status.

 

5. Do I need to be single to attend?

For our dating-focused events, yes.

Speed Friending and Friends Socials are open to everyone, whether you're single, dating, married, or in a relationship.

 

MODERN SPEED DATING

6. What is modern speed dating?

Modern speed dating is a structured, in-person dating experience where singles meet through a series of 5–6 minute mini-dates.

Unlike traditional speed dating, where you may meet everyone in the room, njdates uses Matchboard compatibility information to help identify the singles you're most likely to connect with.

 

7. How does njdates speed dating work?

Before the event, complete your Matchboard profile.

When you arrive, check in using your phone. Your Matchboard guides you to your assigned table and tells you when it's time for your next date.

You'll meet approximately 9–12 singles through guided mini-dates. After each conversation, privately select whether you'd like to match.

Mutual matches are emailed after the event.

 

8. Will I meet everyone attending?

Not necessarily, and that's intentional.

Your 9–12 mini-dates are selected using your Matchboard profile, which considers lifestyle, values, and dating preferences.

Instead of meeting everyone at random, you'll spend time with the people in the room you're most compatible with.

 

9. How many people attend speed dating events?

Most events are designed for approximately 30–40 guests, with a maximum of around 40.

Attendance varies by event, and we actively manage registrations to maintain balanced ratios.

 

10. How many men and women are currently registered at xyz event?

Registration numbers change daily, so we don't publish live ticket counts.

We closely monitor registrations and manage ticket availability to maintain balanced ratios. Some ticket categories may sell out or become waitlisted before others.

 

11. Are there equal numbers of men and women?

For heterosexual speed dating events, we aim for balanced ratios, typically with no more than a three-person difference between groups.

While last-minute cancellations and no-shows can affect final numbers, maintaining balanced rooms is a priority.

 

12. Is there time to mingle outside my scheduled dates?

Yes! Arriving early gives you time to grab a drink, settle in, and meet other guests before the rounds begin.

Depending on the venue, there may also be opportunities to socialize after the event.

 

MATCHBOARD & MATCHMAKING

13. What is the njdates Matchboard?

The Matchboard is our digital matchmaking and event platform. It handles your profile, compatibility-based pairings, table assignments, and mutual matches.

You'll use it throughout the event, so make sure your phone is charged.

 

14. Do I need to complete my Matchboard profile before attending?

Yes. Your completed profile is required to participate.

You'll answer questions about your lifestyle, values, personality, and dating preferences. These answers help us identify compatible singles and organize your mini-dates.

15. How are my mini-dates selected?

Our Matchboard uses your profile answers to identify the most compatible singles attending your event.

Rather than assigning every guest a random rotation, we use compatibility information to create more thoughtful introductions.

Compatibility is a starting point. The chemistry is up to you.

 

16. How do I select someone I want to match with?

After each mini-date, your Matchboard lets you privately select:

• ❤️ Interested in matching (making a connection)

• ❌ Not interested (pass)

Your selections are confidential. Other guests cannot see whether you selected them.

 

17. How and when will I receive my matches?

If you and another guest both select ❤️, it's a mutual match.

You'll receive an email with your mutual matches and contact information, typically about one hour after the event ends.

If the interest isn't mutual, no contact information is exchanged.

 

18. What if I don't get any mutual matches?

It happens, and it doesn't mean the night wasn't worthwhile.

Not every conversation leads to a mutual match. Sometimes the connection is immediate, and sometimes it takes another event and a different room.

Every njdates event brings together a new mix of people, and you're always welcome to come back.

 

19. Will other guests see my profile or personal information?

Your first name, photo, and profile information help guests recognize and connect with you during the event.

Your email address is only shared when there's a mutual match.

Your individual ❤️ and ❌ selections remain private.

 

20. Do I need my phone during the event?

Yes. The Matchboard is a phone-based experience.

You'll use it to check in, follow your table assignments, and select your matches. Please arrive with a charged phone and access to your Matchboard account.

SINGLES SOCIALS & SINGLES NIGHT OUT

21. What is a njdates Singles Social?

Singles Socials combine matchmaking with a shared activity or experience.

We typically begin with group speed dating and icebreakers so guests can get to know each other. Then the event transitions into activities like pickleball, games, golf simulators, or live entertainment.

It's a chance to meet people through conversation and then spend more time together in a social setting.

 

22. How is a Singles Social different from speed dating?

Modern Speed Dating focuses on structured, one-on-one mini-dates.

Singles Socials use group introductions followed by a shared activity, giving you more opportunities to interact in a relaxed, social environment.

Both use the njdates Matchboard to support introductions and mutual matching.

 

23. What is Singles Night Out?

Singles Night Out is our more casual, activity-focused way to meet other singles.

Instead of structured mini-dates, you'll enjoy a shared experience with opportunities to mingle, socialize, and meet people naturally.

Your Matchboard helps you explore compatibility and privately select people you'd like to connect with.

 

24. What's the difference between Singles Socials and Singles Night Out?

Singles Socials begin with organized group matchmaking rounds, followed by activities or entertainment.

Singles Night Out focuses more on the shared experience, with a flexible, open social format.

Both bring singles together in real life, with Matchboard available to support connections.

 

25. Will I receive matches at Singles Socials and Singles Night Out?

Yes. The Matchboard allows you to privately express interest in other guests. When the interest is mutual, you'll receive your match information after the event.

Specific matchmaking features may vary by event format.

 

26. Do I need experience with the activities?

No, our social events are about meeting people first. Whether it's pickleball, cornhole, golf simulators, or games, the activities give everyone something fun to do while conversations happen naturally.

27. What is Speed Friending?

Think speed dating, but for friendship.

Speed Friending brings people together through guided conversations designed around shared interests, personality, and lifestyle.

Your Matchboard Friending Profile helps us introduce you to people you're most likely to click with as friends.

No romantic expectations. Just a chance to meet people who could become part of your circle.

 

28. What is a Friends Social?

Friends Socials are relaxed, activity-based events designed to help adults make new friends.

Expect group introductions, conversation, games, and plenty of opportunities to connect with people outside your usual circle.

Whether you're new to the area, starting a new chapter, or simply looking to expand your friendships, there's room for you.

 

29. What's the difference between Speed Friending and a Friends Social?

Both focus on building friendships rather than romantic connections.

Speed Friending uses shorter, guided conversations and compatibility-based introductions.

Friends Socials combine group introductions with games, activities, and open social time, giving friendships room to develop naturally.

 

30. Do I need to be single to attend friendship events?

No! Speed Friending and Friends Socials are open to everyone, regardless of relationship status.

 

31. Can I attend a friendship event by myself?

Absolutely. Most guests come solo.

Our hosts guide introductions and activities so you're not left trying to break into an established group.

 

ATTENDING AN EVENT

32. What if I'm coming alone?

You're in good company. Most njdates guests attend solo.

Our hosts guide the experience from check-in through the final round, so there's no need to walk into a room and figure everything out yourself.

 

33. What should I wear?

Whatever makes you feel confident and comfortable.

Think polished but relaxed, like you're going out for drinks at a great local spot. There's no formal dress code unless the event description says otherwise.

 

34. What time should I arrive?

Check-in typically opens 30 minutes before the event, depending on the venue.

We recommend arriving early to check in, grab your included drink if offered, and get settled.

Speed dating rounds generally begin about 15 minutes after the scheduled event start time.

 

35. What happens if I'm late?

Our events rely on scheduled table assignments and balanced rotations. Late entry can disrupt the experience for other guests. Please plan to arrive on time.

 

36. Is a drink included with my ticket?

Many njdates events include a complimentary beer, wine, cocktail, or other beverage, depending on the venue.

What's included is always listed in the individual event description.

 

37. Do you offer events for different ages and dating preferences?

Yes! We host events for a wide range of ages, from singles in their 20s to guests in their 50s, and beyond.

We also offer events for different dating preferences, including LGBTQ+ singles.

38. Can I attend more than one njdates event?

Absolutely!

Every event brings a different mix of people, and your Matchboard profile makes it easy to return for another experience.

You never know who might be in the next room.

 

TICKETS, REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS

39. What is your refund and cancellation policy?

We understand plans can change.

• 3 or more days before the event: You're eligible for a full refund.

• Less than 3 days before the event: We'll offer a credit toward another njdates event of equal value.

• If njdates cancels the event: You'll receive a full refund.

 

40. What happens if turnout is low or ratios are uneven?

We closely monitor registrations and have minimum attendance requirements to help ensure a worthwhile experience.

For heterosexual speed dating events, our standard minimum is 10 men and 10 women.

If an event doesn't meet our requirements, we may cancel or reschedule it. If njdates cancels the event, registered guests receive a full refund.

 

41. Why are some tickets waitlisted?

We manage ticket availability to maintain balanced ratios.

If one ticket category is selling faster than another, we may temporarily open a waitlist until registrations become more balanced.

Being waitlisted doesn't necessarily mean the event is completely sold out.
